SHOUT-OUT: MELANIE FIONA COVERS THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

Toronto-born talent Melanie Fiona is at it again. This week she released her third late-night webcam cover on YouTube, this time covering the iconic One More Chance by the Notorious B.I.G. Laying down her own back-up vocals and beats - and showing the entire process in spliced clips - the One More Chance cover follows last month's cover of Bad by Wale and the earlier March cover of Drake's Started From the Bottom, where Fiona cheekily reps Toronto throughout the video.

Clearly, someone managing this girl is sleeping on her talent. Rarely do you see a recognized artist singing covers at 4am with three bottles of wine behind her; evidently Fiona loves what she does and has an all-encompassing passion for music. This is a rarity and it's unfortunate that someone is mismanaging her so badly.

Regardless, the videos themselves are a delight to watch. It's interesting to see the entire process, watching Fiona get occasionally frustrated and often silly, watching the intensity in her face as she feels out the track. She raps, she sings, she mean-mugs. This is exactly what Beyoncé gets flak for: you never see this side of stars like Beyonce, always well-handled, well-represented, perfectly poised and put together (even in documentaries supposed to show the natural side of the star....). We see this in Rihanna's Instagram, but are more accustomed to seeing her partying wildly with friends. It's the Internet culture, the personality behind the star, and Melanie Fiona clearly has an insatiable love of music above all else.
