OH MISS MARION: CANNES 2013 AND THE BEAUTIFUL MARION COTILLARD

_____________________________________________________________________________________

This woman makes me cry on the inside a little bit every time I see her. She is just perfection, but a) I don't think she even realizes it, which makes her even more perfect and b) I don't think she even tries to be perfect. She is effortless and elegant, refined and minimalistic. Understated as ever, Cotillard is my personal style pick for Cannes 2013. She is consistent by day and night and embodies a sort of ethereal French beauty that American women simply can't compete with. She is wearing barely any makeup except in the graphic 60s first-look, with the pronounced eyes and the beehive, and looks fresh, young, and beautiful. She wears no glittering jewels and gaudy baubles, content with a few rings and a thin red watch in the last look. The last look is my favorite, a sort of structured nautical-inspired take on the classic navy slip. But look at her, really. Her hair is chopped short, with no extensions, no highlights, possibly no product whatsoever. She isn't wearing any earrings or any jewelry at all, save the cheeky red watch. Pale, slim, nude shoes, very little make-up, and she just absolutely steals the show. The dress is incredible, with an intricate metallic back design and a paneled structure that resembles the classic sailor's uniform. Short enough to be quite sexy without seeming contrived. The sunnies paired with the peach and white striped Vivienne Westwood is equally effortlessly chic, and the red coat with the ballerina-inspired number is sharp and stunning. I adore this woman on screen and red carpet alike.
